Material: Digital, procreate

Idea: The idea of love and constraint is personal and meaningful to me because even though I've been in the U.S. for several and years and am far away from my parents, they still have strong desire of control on me. I have to ask them for permission to do almost everything, such as buying things and going out, not dying my hair or getting my ears pierced or my nails done until I'm 18 years old. Although I understand that I am the only child and they love me very much, this kind of love puts a lot of pressure on me and even has a great impact on my upbringing, personality and behavior. This more traditional Chinese parenting style struck me as a good entry point and could produce good pieces. 

Process: Since I just came up with this idea, I started over on my 2 page spread. First I drew some illustrations related to my theme, such as security cameras, using hands to represent control, and my parents' love for me. Secondly I drew a mind map to distribute my ideas. Then I wrote the 2D principle of art and added some details. Finally I decided what my question will be and found an inspiration artist.

Material: iPhone 13 Idea:  I wanted to express hope, so I used sunlight. I tried to run towards the sun to reflect my vision of the bright future instead of being controlled and always stay in the dark. Process:  I found a sunny day, set up the phone holder in a place where the sun could reach it and shown the most , and then I performed the running action. Finally some filters and elements of sunlight were used to add texture to the image.

Idea:  I want to convey hope through the blossoming of flowers in this photo. Because the blossoming of flowers represents the rebirth and growth of life, it is closely associated with positive emotions and future hope. Therefore, it can be closely related to my theme.
