 Material: iphone 13 Idea: In this piece, I want to reflect that my parents' strong oppression and restriction on me, so I use the element of camera to play a role of monitoring. And because my parents and I are in different countries, one of their ways to "control" me is through camera, knowing what I am doing. This piece aims to convey the idea that children facing parental oppression experience limited autonomy, needing their parents' constant supervision and approval for any action, highlighting the parents' strong inclination for control. Process: I started by taking a few shots of myself in the corner of my bathroom from different angles, showing being controlled, panicked as well as broken. I then overlaid multiple images and incorporated camera shots in the upper left and right corners to convey my theme. To complete the composition, I applied several layers of filters to depict the sense of oppression and detachment.

Material: Digital, procreate Idea: The idea of love and constraint is personal and meaningful to me because even though I've been in the U.S. for several and years and am far away from my parents, they still have strong desire of control on me. I have to ask them for permission to do almost everything, such as buying things and going out, not dying my hair or getting my ears pierced or my nails done until I'm 18 years old. Although I understand that I am the only child and they love me very much, this kind of love puts a lot of pressure on me and even has a great impact on my upbringing, personality and behavior. This more traditional Chinese parenting style struck me as a good entry point and could produce good pieces.  Process: Since I just came up with this idea, I started over on my 2 page spread. Material: Canon ixus 105， iPhone 13 Idea: I wanted to draw attention to the fact that introverts constantly isolate themselves in a room and value their alone time more as an example of how introverts express loneliness. I therefore used my curtains to establish a sense of closure.  However, introverts also crave solitude, so I decided to stand by the window and take the photos in the daytime so that the sun's reflection on the subject's face would better capture the contrast between light and shade. At the same time, the eyes looking downwards also convey the emotion of loneliness. Process: For this photograph, I used a Canon camera in flash mode so that the contrast could be better represented. I began by waiting till it was more sunny to stand near the window and place the curtains in front of my face or camera.
